Adams Back; Dobies Signs

(PR) Bridgewater, NJ – The Five-Time Atlantic League Champion Somerset Patriots have announced the signings of left-handed pitchers Brian Adams and Andrew Dobies.

Adams returns to Somerset after spending half of the 2010 season playing in the Mexican League, where he finished with a 2-0 record, 1.07 ERA, and 16 strikeouts in 42 innings pitched.

Adams has spent the past three seasons with the Patriots. In 2009, he finished with a 13-8 record, 4.61 ERA, and 120 strikeouts in 27 games.

In 2008 he went 11-7 with a 4.92 ERA and 90 strikeouts in 26 games for the Patriots.

Adams finished the 2007 season with a 15-2 record, 3.68 ERA, and 117 strikeouts in 26 games and was named the 2007 Atlantic League Pitcher of the Year.

He has five seasons of experience with the Boston Red Sox and Milwaukee Brewers organizations, reaching as high as the Double-A Level.

Adams has a 62-37 career minor league record, 3.81 ERA, and 653 strikeouts in 325 games. He has been a part of two championship teams during his time in Somerset and is the Patriots All-Time Career Wins leader with 39.

Dobies most recently pitched for the Chicago White Sox organization during the start of the 2010 season, where he was 3-4 with 23 strikeouts in 14 games.

He has spent the majority of his career with the Boston Red Sox organization, reaching as high as the Double-A Level.

Dobies finished the 2009 season with a 2-3 record, 3.69 ERA, and 39 strikeouts in 27 games for Double-A Portland. In 2007, he was 4-3 with 70 strikeouts in 34 games.

He has a minor league career record of 24-25 with a 4.11 ERA and 343 strikeouts in 131 games.

In other team news, the Patriots have released pitcher Jesse Darcy and placed pitcher Jerry Dunn on the inactive list.
