Patriots Lose Seventh Straight

Josh Miller allowed two runs over seven innings and received a no-decision

(PR) Bridgewater, NJ – The Camden Riversharks defeated the Somerset Patriots 6-3 in ten innings at TD Bank Ballpark on Tuesday night to hand Somerset their seventh straight loss.

The Riversharks broke a 2-2 tie with four runs in the top of the tenth inning. Pinch hitter Richie Robnett reached on a single and scored on a wild pitch. Camden added three more runs on a two run single by right fielder Jorge Piedra and a sacrifice fly by designated hitter Chris Malec to make the score 6-2.

The Patriots jumped out to an early lead in the bottom of the first inning after center fielder Wayne Lydon reached on a bunt single, stole second, advanced to third on a sacrifice by left fielder Tim Raines Jr., and scored on a sacrifice fly by right fielder Michael Hernandez to make the score 1-0.

Camden tied the game up 1-1 in the top of the third inning on a solo homerun by left fielder Garrett Guzman (7).

The Riversharks took a 2-1 lead in the top of the fourth inning after a solo homerun to right field by first baseman Brett Bonvechio (3).

The Patriots evened the score 2-2 in the bottom of eight inning after Raines Jr., singled, stole second, and scored on an RBI single by second baseman Matt Hagen.

Somerset added a run in the bottom of the tenth inning on a solo homerun by Lydon (3).

Camden reliever Gabriel Alfaro (2-1) picked up the win after allowing an earned run on one hit in 1.2 innings pitched. Somerset reliever Ben Grezlovski (4-1) got the loss, allowing four runs on three hits in 2.1 innings pitched. Ryan McKeller got the save after tossing 0.1 innings to secure the victory.

The Somerset Patriots 2010 Season presented by Ford will continue at home on Wednesday night when the Patriots take on the Riversharks at 7:05 pm.
